1985-2017: Senior Scientist and Head of the Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture (IMTA) Systems Department at the National Center for Mariculture (NCM), Israel Oceanographic & Limnological Research (IOLR).
1989-1990: Postdoctoral position at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS). Research subject: bivalve bioenergetics.
1998-1999: Sabbatical leave, at N.O.A.A, Milford Laboratory, Milford, CT, USA.
2010-2020: Adjunct Professor, Ben Gurion University of the Negev.
2017-2020: Visiting scientist at the Interuniversity Institute for Marine Sciences, Eilat.
2018-to date: Principal Research Associate, Morris Kahn Marine Research Station, Haifa University.
Research interests:
- Sustainable aquaculture. Research and development of Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) systems.
- Mariculture (biology and technology) of bivalves, sea urchins, abalone and seaweeds.
- Physiology of bivalves (oysters, clams), abalone and sea urchins.
- Use of bivalves, Artemia, seaweeds and constructed wetlands with halophytes as biofilters of mariculture effluents.
- Use of seaweeds and halophyte plants as food and feed.
